A REVIEW OF  JAGUN JAGUN: GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED YORUBA MOVIE.

Jagun Jagun the warlord

A Story of Ambition and Power

This movie portrays the excellence and the beauty of Yoruba culture. Jagun Jagun tells  a story of a young man called Gbotija, a skilled wood smith man with spiritual powers, who joins forces with the formidable warrior Ogundiji

Gbotija, who’s all about love and justice, but he also has  his own demons to fight. I mean, his past is pretty rough and he has this burning desire to avenge his father’s death. But at the same time, he’s also got this soft spot for Kiitan, Ogundiji’s adopted daughter.

Ogundiji, a ruthless warlord who is used to getting his way. He’s built a reputation for seizing kingdoms and installing puppet leaders. But when a young warrior named Gbotija bursts onto the scene, Ogundiji starts to feel the heat. Gbotija’s on a mission to avenge his father’s death, and his bravery and skill makes him a serious threat to Ogundiji’s power. As Gbotija gains momentum, Ogundiji becomes increasingly angry and desperate to maintain his grip on control of power. It’s a classic tale of a dictator’s downfall, as the once-mighty Ogundiji faces off against the fearless and determined Gbotija

Sadly, Ogundiji  wouldn’t let the  relationship between kiitan  and Gbotija  work because  he is scared. Kiitan is a gifted lady which Ogundiji adopted at an early age from one of the communities he conquered. Surprisingly, he takes advantage of her gift in other to achieve his dreams. Now he is worried that Gbotija will take his greatest weapon and power away from him.

This movie also explores popular societal issues such as Godfatherism, as reflected by Ogundiji.
